I’m Saved! Next Steps

Embracing salvation is the beginning of a new life in Christ. Now, as you take the next steps in your spiritual journey, it’s essential to deepen your faith, grow in understanding, and live out God’s purpose for you. Here, we’ll explore the key principles that will guide you as you walk in this new life of freedom and grace.

“What’s Next” for New Believers

We are so happy that you have chosen to make a commitment to receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Whether you are beginning your relationship with God or renewing your commitment to Him, we are honored to be a part of what the Lord is doing in your life.

There are three things we want you to know and three things we want you to do as you consider the question “What’s Next?”

TO KNOW #1

You are brand new.

When you respond with faith to the good news about Jesus, radical changes take place. First, the Holy Spirit comes to live in your heart. He is the key to many more positive changes yet to come. The Bible also states that you yourself are a new creation [2 Corinthians 5:17] and that you have been born again [John 3:3]. You now have the Spirit of God and the life of God active in you [Romans 8:9-11].

TO KNOW #2

You are right with God.

Once you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and that He rose from the dead to give you power to live, you are right with God. Romans 5:1-2 says, “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.” This mean you are forgiven and clean [1John 1:8-9], and that guilt has been completely removed from over your life [Psalm 103:12].

TO KNOW #3

You will grow in your relationship with Jesus.

The new life that you have received from God is like a seed that grows when properly cared for [Matthew 4:1-9]. The way you think, feel, make decisions, and relate to others will be transformed as you grow in your relationship with Jesus, allowing Him to direct your life.
Unchanged:

TO DO #1

Have a regular personal time with the Lord that includes prayer and reading the Bible.

To grow in your relationship with Jesus, you must spend time with Him. As you pray and read the Bible, expect the Holy Spirit to speak to you, direct you, and interact with you. Prayer is simply talking to God. God wants you to talk with Him. And you will learn to listen for His quiet voice within you, and to follow His leading and direction for you. We strongly suggest that you set aside time each day for reading the Bible and praying. Also, it is a good idea for you to start your Bible reading in the New Testament.

TO DO #2

Get Into a Good Word of Faith, Holy Spirit Church

For a new believer, attending a local church is vitally important because it provides a supportive community where you can grow in your faith, receive teaching and guidance, and participate in worship. A local church offers a nurturing environment for spiritual development through fellowship with other believers, accountability, and opportunities for service and ministry. It also helps new believers understand and apply biblical teachings in their daily lives, fostering a deeper relationship with God. Look for a church that preaches the full gospel of God and believes in the baptism or the Holy Spirit. You can use our online tool to find a church like this.

TO DO #3

Be water baptized.

Water baptism is the next step for you and is an important, biblical part of following Jesus. It symbolically shows others that your old life is dead and buried; you have been raised to new life in Him and will follow Him for the rest of your life. You can sign up to be baptized at most churches.
